I’ll do the Math – a RANT about BUDGET

Let’s say you had 50 reps on the phone.
They earn $10.00 an hour x 8 hours x 20 days a month = $80,000 a month. (AND with dead air, bad scripts and an attitude)
That doesn’t even count health and accident, SS, or other perks,what about lights, technology, phone bill?

Now let’s take results???? Whatever they are doing now and with the L-A-M-A and Coaching, they sell 5% more, have 20% increase in Customer SATS, or Retain 1 more client a day per person….and they have a great ATTITUDE, Motivated and Inspired.

Retention: Save one customer per day. (How about give back less money? We helped those Info-mercial people save millions on their celebrity products..)
Sales: Each Rep adds L-A-M-A technique and goes from 4 sales a day to 6. (50% increase – at an insurance company the top reps went from 8 insurance sales a day to 12) …Hello.
Sales: B – 2 – B Each Rep offers an add-on or a cross sale on every call say 47% of the time. (a certain bank called us a GOD-SEND – a catalogue company added-on with 30% of their calls because they offered the right product and used the L-A-M-A technique. Years ago Word Perfect increased sales by $5,000 a day. Their president came down to the training room and wanted to know what I did to his people. We charged them (back in the day) $3,000 a one time fee.
Customer Service: Cross Selling on every call. We teach three soft skilled ways to do this.

If it cost you $5,000 a month, to increase the orders….by 5% – Let’s say average sale is $50, increase it with L-A-M-A and Coaching, to $52.50 per hour x 8 x 20 x 50 = $80,000 more income. $2.50 per hour more, (conservative) = $20,000.00 per month. This is a very conservative effort.

I say never drop a dollar to pick up a dime…I also say, if I spend 2 to make 10…I am there. Let’s not hear anymore of that “budget excuse” This is getting old now….not true. The world is buying, there is plenty of money, I just saw an ad that said the Bank of America lends out 3 Billion dollars a day! A DAY!

Do they really “Shoot the Trainers?” Someone said they do and I wanted to become a trainer. After overhearing that remark from one of the Call Center Representatives…I thought. Oh.Oh. Maybe I picked the wrong place to be. Is it true? You ought to know, you have been there long enough.

Dear “Don’t Shoot”,
I have heard that several times in my life but it never seemed to be addressed to me. It was either an innocent person who didn’t know I was the trainer or someone not smart enough to kiss up to the teacher. Given that, you chose the right career if you like the following things:
Watching the “light bulb over the head” go on. It’s worth every insult.
• Hearing stories about how you changed someone’s business career – feels good.
• Teaching and Training others in a way the gives them skills and builds their self esteem at the same time.

“Happy, you will be.” like YODA would say. Tears of joy to your eyes – It will bring. Do it! It’s worth every shot they take. Sage maybe, been there for a long time…for sure!

ATA Positive Coaching Retention of Agents

I am amazed at the interviewer Blake Landau and the questions she asked me for the ATA interview. http://www.customermanagementiq.com/podcenter.cfm?externalID=253 Those questions made me sound so good and I got to sound off as well. Since I started working, I just love those AGENTS on the phones. I am one of them. I always feel they are hurried, abused and quality call checked to death. So, I started my own campaign to be positive and coach that way.

Ten times the FUN and BUSINESS

I have decided that since business is slower than it was two years ago that I would invoke the law of ten. This has worked for me every time the economy has slowed down. One of my clients mentioned to me that she refused to participate in the recession. I agree. I also refuse. You will not hear any negative expressions and if I start to think things are slow,I will invoke the law of ten. Here is how is works.
Every single time you see any number you multiply it by ten in your mind so If you see a sign that says: 25 miles an hour. you say in your head. “Ten times ten that amount is coming to me now. $2500.” This is a lot of fun and keeps that wonderful mind of mine saying and thinking positively.

Nike has it right! Just DO IT! The harder question is what do you get when you fail? Let’s see, I get to complain, I get to rumble about how bad it all is, I get to effort and struggle at working harder and do more only to be crestfallen when it doesn’t work. It’s actually the Do-Do-Do Syndrome which has never worked. You have to give up the struggle and the effort….just do it…Just say this or ten times more is coming my way, I better get ready for the onslaught!

Answering the Call ATA Convention and EXPO

American TeleServices Association Convention and Expo was a huge HIT and a big business success for fall who exhibited, attended and presented. We did it all.

I love the title of Answering the Call because that is exactly what we need – someone to answer their phone. Here is my first sort of negative blog. I mean, everyone in business wants the phone to ring but no one in business wants to answer their phones. Can’t everybody see that that will not work? This is a blinding flash of the obvious. You can’t have what you don’t want.

When I train in the Call Centers all over America, I always say. “Who believes in what-goes-around-comes-around?” Everybody raises their hands. Then I say, GREAT! Then the next time you get a call from a Telemarketer, TAKE IT!

What got me on this kick was that about 2 weeks ago, I made 25 dials…and no one answered. This is to my own data base, these are people who know me, (are they trying to tell me something?) What this tells me is that everybody is protecting themselves, they let their voice mail do the answering for them. Judy might call and ask them to hire her… This is NOT good. We are in the telephone and the sales business. IF we believe in what goes around comes around. We better start “Answering the Call.”

I work with AIRGAS Safety. (Call and say Judy McKee said you would give them a discount off the catalog price.) They are wonderful company, they sell Safety products head to toe all over the US. It’s all B2B and I can sit ready to coach them after their training and we will make call after call and no one answers. What is so weird about this, is that all of those are businesses that do business by phone. I think the reason Social Networking is taking on so fast and so big is because we MISS each other. We don’t talk to each other….we are all cocooned in our homes, offices and cubicles.

In the regular Outsource Call Center, we staff them up with what we think will handle all the Incoming calls and sometimes we are wrong, so the phone rings and rings but no one answers. Or if you are a consumer and you answer the phone, it goes dead because the dialer was faster than the agent.

My advice for today is: “Everything you resist will persist”

SO that means:
* STOP resisting the phone ringing,
* Embrace your phone again
* Listen to who is talking instead of just reading your screen.
* Learn to manage the calls.

What goes around does come around and if you insist on NOT answering your phone, it means when you call others for business, they won’t answer your call either.

Gotta go, my phone is ringing….GREAT! I can’t wait to see who is calling me. I hope it’s a job.
